The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area 1 Command, on Wednesday said it generated N32.3 billion in March, up from the N21.5 billion generated in February.
This is contained in the revenue report document made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Mr Emmanuel Ekpa.
A breakdown of the revenue collected, as indicated in the document, shows that N15. 7 billion was generated into the Federation Account.
The amount was higher than the N10.7 billion collected under the same account in February.
Under the Non-Federation Account, the command generated a total of N16. 6 billion, which was up from the N10.8 billion generated into the same account in February.
The document indicated that collections under the account came from five per cent Value Added Tax and seven per cent port levy.
The other levies under the account include one per cent Comprehensive Import Supervision Scheme; rice levy, sugar levy, wheat flour, cigarette and iron levy.
The document also indicated that a total of N278 million was collected from the Negotiable Duty Credit Certificate (NDCC) in March, as against the N189.9 million collected in February.
Speaking on the revenue generation, the Controller of the Command, Eporwei Edike, said that operatives of the command had worked with utmost dedication to ensure remarkable output for national economic benefit.
He said this was important considering that revenue from oil export was dwindling.
